your questions answered
microblading
Why is it important to have a consultation?
A personal consultation is always required to ensure that the stylist and the client discuss the HD Brows treatment. It is an opportunity for you the client to give the stylist the information they need to carry out the correct treatment. It also gives you the time to understand what is included and what can be achieved during your treatment.
It covers the 4 key questions:
- What size brow you would like – full medium or slim.
- What colour of brow you would like – the tone and depth of the colour.
- What shape do you have in mind.
- Is there a particular type of brow you have in mind – bring in pictures if you have any.
Why do I need a patch test for microblading?
It is important to carry out a patch test for microblading to discover whether you may have a reaction to the pigment or the topical anaesthetic. Pigment and anaesthetic will normally be placed on plasters on your arm. If you have particular sensitivities, a scratch test may also be required.
Can anyone have microblading?
Microblading can be life changing for many people, but unfortunately it is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant or nursing, you will need to wait until you have finished nursing to have microblading treatments.
Diabetics can also not have microblading. If you have medical conditions or on certain medications, this could affect whether you are able to have the microblading procedure, how you retain pigment and how your skin heals. This will be discussed during the consultation and you may be required to obtain medical consent from your GP before you are able to have microblading.
You must also be over 18 to have the microblading procedure.
Do you remove my brow hair before you microblade?
No, there is no need to remove the brow hair - actually it't better to leave your brows alone before the treatment so I can see how your brows grow, so I can make them as natural as possible and match as much as possible to your shape.
If your brow hair is patchy, then I blend as much as possible. I will be also be looking at improving your shape and symmetry as much as possible. Remember, brows are sisters and not twins.
What is the difference between microblading and HD Brows?
HD Brows uses a number of techniques to create your desired brow shape and colour that lasts around 4-6 weeks and is on offer at £25. Microblading is a semi-permanent make-up technique. Pigment is implanted into the skin with a fine needle to create the look of hair strokes. Microblading typically lasts around 12-18 months when you will require a top up.
Can I wax before my microblading treatment?
Yes you can wax, but this should be done at least 48 hours before the microblading procedure. The ideal would be not to wax for a while before the procedure if possible, to utilise as much hair growth as possible to give a more textured appearance.
What should I do before my treatment?
Full pre treatment advice will be discussed during your consultation appointment, here is a summary:
- Brow tinting should be carried out at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
- Exfoliation or products containing glycolic acid, retinol, and alpha hydroxy acids will inflame the skin, so should be avoided for at least 72 hours in advance.
- Blood thinners should also be avoided but you should not stop taking any prescribed medication.
- Avoid alcohol and ibuprofen should be avoided for 48 hours in advance of the treatment.
What should I do after the microblading treatment?
Full aftercare will be provided and discussed during the consultation and after your treatment, but here are some key guidelines:
- Everyone heals at different rates and could take anywhere between 4-12 weeks to completely heal.
- You should not get your brows wet for at least 5 days after the procedure.
- You need to let the area heal on its own, any picking, scratching or rubbing the brow as this may cause scarring, infection or poor pigment retention.
- Avoid makeup in the area for at least 72 hours after the microblading procedure to avoid inflammation and infection.
- Exposure to direct sunlight, swimming, increased sweating, and exercising for up to 10 days following the procedure.
- Always use a high factor spf (at least 25) to prevent your brows from fading once your brows have healed.
- The same aftercare applies to your top-up appointment as well as your initial microblading procedure.

How often should I have a facial?
Facials are recommended either fortnightly or monthly depending on you skin condition and key concerns. The cell turnover process happens approximately happens every 30 days. how does LVL lash lift work?
- lash preparation
After an initial consultation to establish the look and level of lift; we start with preparing the lashes. This involves a light cleanse to remove any residue make-up and oils. We apply a gel pad to protect the bottom lashes and a silicone shield is bonded to your eyelid. We then set your lashes into a beautiful shape to start the lifting process.
- lift & fix
Once your lashes are set in place, a lifting lotion is then applied to the lashes and left on for a number of minutes depending on the type of lashes you have. This is removed and the fixing lotion is applied in the same way.
- colour boost
Once the fixing lotion is removed, a lash tint is applied to your lashes. This gives your lashes the appearance of mascara, making them look richer and longer. If you prefer a more natural colour then a brown tint can be applied.
- condition & finish
Once the colour boost has been removed, we then condition the lashes using a moisturising lotion. This is particularly critical to keep your lashes in tip top condition. We then use this to remove the lashes from the shield and the shields from the eyes. Then you will open your eyes to a beautifully lifted set of lashes – wow!
What's the difference between LVL and a lash perm?
LVL Enhance curls the lashes from the root. It creating a more upright curl creating a more dramatic effect with different options to suit you and your lashes. LVL Enhance also includes an eye lash tint providing an appearance of mascara giving you added length and volume.

LVL normally lasts between 6-8 weeks if you follow the post treatment advice, but this can vary according to your lash cycle and type of lashes you have. If you have polka-dot straight lashes they may not last as long, we will advise you during consultation.
To make your lash treatment last longer, you are advised to use the lash conditioning serum. After all you would always condition your hair to keep it in tip top condition.

A sachet containing a blend of food grade minerals is placed in the shell or stone and then an activator (a saline solution), is added causing an exothermic reaction. How hot do the shells/stones get?
Mild Blend is the mildest heat; this is used in the warming back massage. The temperature range when in use 31 – 46°C (88 – 115°F). This is also used in the Molten Stone Massage.

Comfort Blend High Heat is the stronger of the two comfort blends, it heats quicker with a faster increase in temperature when rested, especially during the first 30 minutes. These are ideal for continuous use and most suitable for full body massages. The temperature range when in use 38 – 49°C (100 -120°F).
What are Lava Shells® and Molten Lava Stones made from?
Porcelain Lava Shells® are handcrafted using high quality porcelain and crushed shells. Each porcelain shell is hand painted to have the appearance of natural shells. The shell is non-porous so it does not absorb oil, skin cells or bacteria, making them a hygienic alternative to natural basalt stones.
The Molten Lava Stones is made from a blend of black lava rock, real seashells and porcelain for a durable and hygienic massage tool.
Are the Lava Shells® And Molten Lava Stones eco friendly?
Yes, all ingredients used in the sachets are 100% natural, food-grade quality and can be disposed of in a food-waste bin or compost heap as they are bio-degradable.
